A NOTE ON SECURITY

Your recovery phrase
is yours alone.

A recovery phrase gives access to a self-custody wallet. Keep it private and offline, and enter it only in the official wallet app or extension when you intentionally restore a wallet.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions, answered.

Keep this guide handy while you set up.

Is this the official Coinbase Wallet website?

This page is an independent getting-started guide, not an official Coinbase page. For downloads and account-specific help, go directly to coinbase.com/wallet.

What if I already have a wallet?

Use the official extension’s import or restore flow if you choose to access an existing wallet. Never enter your recovery phrase into a website, chat, or form, and never share it with another person.

I can’t see the Wallet icon in my browser. What should I do?

Open your browser’s extensions menu (often shown as a puzzle-piece icon), find Wallet, and pin it to the toolbar. Browser menus may look different depending on your version.

How do I know a support message is legitimate?

Be cautious of unsolicited messages and search ads that imitate support. Coinbase support will never ask you to reveal your recovery phrase. Navigate to Coinbase directly instead of following unexpected links.
